PRACTICUMS
________________________________________________________________________

prac-ti-cum, n.,  a school or college course, usually in a specialized field of study, that is designed to give students supervised practical application of previously studied theory.

As the definition explains, the practicums in this program are designed to teach you to apply what you have learned in your online courses in the field.  While the information and knowledge you gain through study is extremely important, there is no substitute for hands on experience and practice.

Practicums will typically involve one instructor and a maximum of four students.  You will spend three days reviewing course work for the term, and then applying what you have learned in a real world situation.  You must have fulfilled all prerequisites before attending a practicum.

Students will be required to wear appropriate clothing, be on time, bring required materials and fully participate.  After the practicum the instructor will submit an assessment for each student which will determine whether or not you are ready to move forward in the program.  If the student is not yet fully capable and competent, more instruction may be required before proceeding.

Typically, practicums will be held in or near the instructor's home town.  Instructors are located in different states, and the academy reserves the right to assign instructor assignments.

Dates, accommodation options, materials required etc. will be made available. Transportation is up to the student.  Please see Travel
